DTVS-SMART1 / Viewing HEVC videos on DTVS-Smart1
« Last post by admin on October 20, 2019, 10:27:30 am »

HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) also known as H.265 is a newer codec which provides better compression. The DTVS-Smart1 has hardware support for H.264 codec. H.265 hardware codec support was not available when this unit was developed. Software solution (MXPlayer) has been tried but playback is not satisfactory.

The current recommended method of viewing HEVC content is to convert the content to H.264 and then view it. the FFMPEG utility can be used to convert the file or you can use other H.265 to H.264 converter. The following is the command to use to convert using FFMPEG:

<path to ffmpeg>ffmpeg -i "<input file name>" -bsf:v h264_mp4toannexb -sn -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -vcodec libx264 "<output file name>"

DTVS-SMART1 / DefaultApps application - Revised (12 September 2017)
« Last post by admin on June 01, 2017, 10:43:48 am »
The DefaultApps application supplied on the DTVS-Smart1 allows installation of some applications that are not installed with the firmware. These applications are either optional or upgrades of existing applications. Recently we have discovered that the hosting site for these applications has been changed and the application has lost access to the content.

We have a revised application called Smart1Apps that will allow similar functionality to the original DefaultApps application. The new application can be downloaded and installed using the APKInstaller application. Link to the new application is:

http://www.dtvs.co.nz/download/dtvssmart1/software/Smart1Apps.apk

For those who want to keep a copy of the applications, we have also made a copy of the applications which can now be downloaded directly from our website. The applications can be accessed via the
